Vacs in Action - The class 50’s Volume 3
This is the third volume in a series dedicated to the Class 50’s. If you already own the “Class 50 Trilogy” previously issued by DTV, then this is not new material to you as this volume is included within the trilogy. In this volume we see 50’s in action at Royal Oak, Exeter St. Davids, Basingstoke and Oxford. Also included are other locations in the Oxford and London area.At Royal Oak just outside London Paddington there is plenty of action as we watch 50’s on passenger and E.C.S. workings as well as light engine. By the time we move on we have already seen nine different members of the Class. The Exeter St. Davids feature on volume one was enthusiastically received and so we visit this location again. This time on an evening and a summer Saturday in 1986; in action here are 005, 016, 017, 028, 042 and 044. At Oxford we arrive in time to see 040 depart before watching first 045 and 035 arrive from and then depart to Paddington. On to Southern metals and we make two visits to Basingstoke in 1986 and 1987. 015 makes a ponderous approach but then a stunning start after a driver change. 005, 018,020 and 039 also feature here. Other locations include Taunton, Ealing Broadway, West Drayton, Slough, Didcot, South Moreton, with Didcot power station as a back drop Culham and Radley.
